After weeks of Netflix’s Jessica Jones teasers that ranged from exciting to infuriating with how little they showed of the series, a full trailer is finally here, and it is dark. You thought Daredevil was rought? Try matching the superhero-turned-private-eye Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) against Kilgrave (David Tennant)—a villain who has mind control powers, once tormented Jones, and is now back to torment her again. Luke Cage (Mike Colter) is a bartender who discovers Jones’ powers and joins forces with her as she investigates crimes. Patsy Walker (Rachel Taylor) is Jones’ best friend. The expectation was that Jessica Jones, an adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis' stellar early-’00s comic Alias, would be downright lighthearted comparted to the unrelentingly bleak Daredevil earlier this year—but from the look of this trailer, that’s not the case. From an entire station of police officers holding guns to their heads to mass suicides-by-hanging, there's no shortage of stark imagery here, and we have to say it: this is the most compelling Marvel material we've seen in quite some time.

Jessica Jones hits Netflix Nov. 20.
