New Star Wars Posters Are Beautiful, But Luke Is Missing

The new character posters for director J.J. Abrams's movie are stunning, but there's one character still suspiciously missing.

You thought the first full poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was stunning? There's plenty of new eye candy still to come.

With a little over a month to go until the release of director J.J. Abrams' seventh Star Wars installment, the hype machine is in overdrive. Today's gift? These amazing new character posters for Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Leia (Carrie Fisher), Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). They don't really reveal much—they are just posters, after all—but it is a beautiful thing to see Han hoisting that blaster and Finn and Kylo Ren firing up those lightsabers. (Also, we're pretty sure Leia's got a little bit of her signature bun action going on. This is pleases us.)

What's missing, though, is Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). He was also suspiciously absent from the big poster revealed two weeks ago, leading to a lot of fan speculation about what his omission meant. (Luke, notably, was also not much of a presence in the latest trailer, something Abrams has called "no accident.") Is his role in this whole thing being kept a secret for a big reveal? Has he gone to the Dark Side? Is he wildly disfigured and Abrams doesn’t want to show his face yet? Is Luke even in this movie at all?! Seriously, what does this all mean?

We’ll find out on Dec. 18. Until then, enjoy the posters above.
