Much of coffee's appeal lies in its simplicity. Grounds, hot water, a little time, and presto---you've got yourself a cuppa. You can brew it almost anywhere using a wide array of tools. Truly great coffee, however, still demands a level of preciousness, which doesn't lend itself to portability. TheThe Cafflano Klassic aims to change that.

The Klassic is a portable all-in-one method of brewing you can use anywhere. Its economical design holds everything you need: a foldaway hand mill grinder, a drip kettle, stainless steel filter dripper and a 15-ounce tumbler. The system can be pre-ordered right now for $99, and will ship in May.

A whole brewing system lives inside. Just add beans and hot water.

Cafflano

It looks like a nondescript travel mug. Pull it apart, though, and you'll find a hand-crank grinder beneath the lid. You can adjust the grind just like any other quality crank grinder. Coffee grounds fall into the metal filter below, so when you're done grinding, simply lift the grinder out. Next, flip the lid and fill it with hot water (the only thing the Cafflano can't do is heat your water). A tiny hole near the lip of the lid provides a perfect pour. After brewing, remove the filter and you're left with a thermal mug full of coffee.

Everything needed to brew a great cup of coffee fits in a package that's easily stashed and transported. At $99, this BYOBrewing system may be an attractive option for those who work in offices with lackluster caffeine options or those who frequently find themselves in hotel rooms with crappy brewing rigs. It's a single-serving system, though, so if you're bunking with someone, you'd better buy two.
