Yesterday the Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago White Sox played the first game in MLB history without fans, who were barred from attending. It was an odd two hours and three minutes of mostly silent sports, as though the contest was part of a videogame instead of, y'know, part of multibillion dollar league. The athletes for the most part kept straight faces, though there was no denying that the weirdness got to them as well. So while there are plenty of socioeconomic implications of MLB’s decision to play the game amid civil unrest while preventing Baltimore fans from attending, there were just too many weird moments not to chronicle them.
