As kids in the '80s, we didn't have Instagram—we had weird oblong cameras that took 110 film and attached to our wrists and got frosting all over them at birthday parties. AND WE LIKED IT. But what if someone back then had had the vision and wherewithal to invent a photo-sharing service that allowed image filters? It might look something like this. In the latest "If X would have been invented in Y…" video from Squirrel-Monkey, we find out that it would've involved floppy disks [shudder], getting an Instagram form from a gas station, and choosing between "sepia," "monochrome," "ocean," or "blurry" filters. Check it out in the video above, then feel free to go back to taking pictures of your "thigh gap" with your fancy modern phone.
