Forget candles. Nothing sets the mood like a lovely lightbulb dangling artfully from the ceiling. But what kind to choose? Incandescents traditionally offer a wide range of coloring and lighting levels (not to mention cool looking filaments), but LEDs are more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
While we've said LEDs are the future of lightbulbs, issues like cooling, cost, and light color have prevented broad adoption---this despite the fact that they use 80 percent less power than halogen or incandescent lights, and half as much as fluorescents.
That could change with handsome products like Edison Light Globes' LED light bulbs, though. The 120V LED bulbs deliver a gentle, warm hue, much like a bulb from the actual Edison era. Available in 3- and 5-watt models, they put out as much light as a standard 35W and 45W incandescent, respectively, and are supposed to last 20,000 hours.
The light bulbs come in different shapes and range in price from $30 to $40 apiece (discounted if you buy in bulk).
