Marvel at the Wonder of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Recreated in Emoji

This three-minute version of J.J. Abrams' movie even has BB-8's flaming thumbs-up and Kylo Ren and Rey's Force-off.

Intrepid fans have used emoji to recreate everything from Edvard Munch's The Scream to Beyoncé’s "Drunk in Love". Heck---reinterpreting art with little digital faces and icons is practically international pastime. Now you can enjoy the emoji treatment of a true cinematic masterpiece: Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Using icons like those that circulated on Twitter in the promotional push for the film last fall, the clip rather astutely captures J.J. Abrams' entire two-hour-plus movie in just three minutes. It even features BB-8’s flaming thumps-up and a rather interesting interpretation of Kylo Ren's use of the Force on Rey. The video is the latest installment in Disney Interactive Media's "As Told by Emojis" series, which puts a similar twist other Disney properties (they’ve previously recreated Frozen and Aladdin).
