The Best Internet Reactions to Facebook Devouring Oculus

Many Oculus Rift fans have reacted badly to the news of Facebook's acquisition, and of course they've reacted with GIFs.

By now you've probably heard the news: Facebook has acquired the VR startup Oculus for $2 billion. I've written before about how immersive and exciting the Rift is, and the creative possibilities for games are certainly exciting. While some people remain optimistic about what Facebook's big bucks could do for the VR startup, others—especially gamers wedded to the DIY possibilities of the Rift—have reacted, shall we say, badly, and of course they've reacted with memes.

They tend to fall into a few categories: Facebook-related images fused with Oculus Rift headsets; surprisingly prescient VR images from the pop culture past; and of course, pictures and GIFs that imagine the future of VR infused with a plague of Facebook ads.
